Shawn D. Goldblatt was born in Camp LeJeune, North Carolina, and raised in Anaheim, California, in a family shaped by both military life and a rich blend of Irish Catholic and Jewish traditions. After losing her father at a young age, she later grew more deeply connected to her Jewish heritage, a foundation that would become an important part of her life and community work.

With support from the GI Bill, Shawn earned both a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts degree in Psychology. She met her husband, Hal, through Hillel at California State University, Long Beach, and the two have been happily married for over 50 years. Together, they raised ten children and are blessed with 29 grandchildren.

Throughout her life, Shawn has worked as a teacher, office manager, business leader, writer, and community volunteer. She has served on boards, helped found and lead Jewish and civic organizations, taught classes, supported Chabad of Southern Nevada, and contributed to community life in many meaningful ways.

After years of being encouraged by family and friends to share her story, Shawn began writing her life journey after retiring from teaching. Her work reflects faith, family, heritage, service, and the many experiences that shaped the life she has lived.
